Cohasset Garden Club holds eight general membership meetings between March and October. The last meeting in October serves as the Club’s annual meeting.
Once a year, a meeting is opened to the public. This public meeting focuses on conservation issues and supports our stated mission “to stimulate and advance the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence, and publications, and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement”.
Speakers for the annual public meeting have included: David Gallo, former Director of Special Projects at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and a pioneer in ocean exploration. Mr. Gallo spoke on ocean exploration and the relationship between humanity and the sea, David Gallo on LinkedIn; David Pendergast from Agora Greens, spoke about growing “leafy greens” inside a recycled 40’ shipping container that has been retro fitted into a high production and high technology growing machine; Paul Tukey, founder of SafeLawns.org whose mission is to create a broad-based coalition of not-for-profit and for-profit organizations committed to educating society about the benefits of environmentally responsible lawn care and gardening, with the goal of effecting a quantum change in consumer and industry behavior.
